British Red Cross Mobility Aids Service

The British Red Cross hires out Wheelchairs and Toileting Aids for Short to Medium term use. These items are immediately available from Lothbury House during normal working hours. No Appointment necessary.

Equipment may be reserved by ringing Lothbury House on 07590 962907 during working hours. Please contact 0300 456 1914 outside normal hours.

Reservations can also be made on line by searching for “wheelchair hire” and clicking on the link to British Red Cross – www.redcross.org.uk

Reserved Items can be picked up from Lothbury House during normal working hours. Delivery can be arranged for an additional fee. *

Current hire charges are £22 per week for wheelchairs and £11 for toileting aids.

There is an Assistance Scheme for those who may have difficulty affording the Rental fees. Details of how to apply can be obtained from Lothbury House. If accepted onto the Scheme the Items will be free of charge for up to 6 months.

In addition, at Lothbury House, there is a selection of Donated Items such as reconditioned quality Wheel Chairs, Rollators Walking Frames, Crutches and Walking Sticks available in exchange for a donation to the service.

The Office is staffed by a Red Cross employee and Volunteers who dispense advice and equipment and answer the Phone.

Out of hours there is an answerphone. Messages will be attended to the following working day.

*Unfortunately, at the moment it is not always possible to arrange delivery to Peterborough and some surrounding Villages. However, items can be collected from Lothbury House by relatives or friends.
