Noticeboard

The practice operates the NHS Zero tolerance policy.  Any one attending the surgery who abuses the GPs, staff or other patients; verbally, physically or in a threatening manner will be removed from the practice  list.

Our workers have the right to be treated with dignity and respect at all times. They should be able to do their jobs without being physically or verbally abused. Most people respect this. Thank you for being one of them.

Clinics & Services

Cervical Smear Tests

Routine smears are normally taken by a practice nurse.  You should receive a letter reminding you when your smear is due.  Please telephone the surgery to make an appointment.

Childhood Immunisations

All children under five years of age are encouraged to have the recommended immunisations.  Appointments for clinics are held weekly at each surgery and all appointments are sent directly to the parents/guardian from the Health Authority.

Child Health Surveillance Clinics

All children are invited to see the doctor for a health and development check at about 6 weeks.  Later checks are carried out by the health visitors and school nurses.

Family Planning

All forms of contraception (including EMERGENCY contraception) can be provided by the doctors and practice nurses who have been fully trained by the Family Planning Association.  If necessary, ask for an emergency appointment.

Minor Surgical Operations

These are carried out in the fully equipped treatment room after a consultation with a doctor.

Foreign Travel

We will be pleased to give advice on all medical aspects of foreign travel, including vaccinations.  Please ask to see the practice nurse in good time - at least eight weeks before travel. More information is available on the above tab.

Maternity Care

An antenatal clinic is held weekly at each surgery with a midwife and a doctor in attendance.  Postnatal examinations are carried out by appointment about six weeks after confinement.

Asthma and Diabetes

Patients with asthma or diabetes may be seen by a doctor or a practice nurse, in a routine appointment, usually by a practice nurse unless there is a problem.

Other Services

Most of our doctors and practice nurses have special interests or skills, allowing us to offer extra services including Cryotherapy (freezing) of warts/other skin lesions, Rheumatology (including joint injections), ENT, Genitourinary medicine (sexually transmitted diseases), Respiratory Medicine, and Occupational Health.  If you think you would benefit from one of these services please discuss it with the Receptionist who will give you the appropriate appointment.
